Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands in Spain, with a population of about 900,000 people. Its capital city is Palma. It’s extremely popular as a holiday destination for tourists mostly from Germany and the UK, with approx. 10 million visitors in 2017.

The local language of the islands is Catalan, which is co-official with Spanish. The specific dialect of Catalan spoken, mallorquí, is one of the Balearic dialects of Catalan.
