I first signed up for Twitter in 2007, and I went through a couple of periods of high activity on it: 2010–2011 (when I had lots of friends also using Twitter) and 2015–2021ish (when I was mostly following political content and passively liking/RTing). What I ended up noticing is that Twitter was addictive (the intermittent rewards of “good tweets”!) and mostly a net drain on my mental health (so much drama and outrage). These days I severely ration the Twitter accounts I check and I’m much happier for it.
