Japan
Japan is a highly developed island nation in East Asia which is well-known for its excellent urbanism, hi-tech industries, video games and other media output. It does also have some issues, including a brutal work culture, reluctance to grapple with the legacy of its WW2-era aggression, a lack of willingness to accept ethnic minorities (including long-standing ones, like Zainichi Koreans), and poor rates of gender equality. Still, I have heard it’s a great place to visit.
