football
Australian rules football is absolutely one of my favourite sports. It was invented in the mid-19th century somewhere near the SA/Victoria border, as a hybrid of British schoolyard games and the Aboriginal game of marngrook. It’s the most popular football code in the southern and western parts of Australia, with its preeminent league being the AFL. The team I barrack for is the Sydney Swans, formerly the South Melbourne Swans, who generations of my dad’s family supported before me.
Did you know? I also have a wiki page called ‘football’! If you want to check that out, you can do so here.
