Argentina
Argentina is a country of 45 million people in South America. I visited in 2013, and thought Buenos Aires was beautiful, even though its porteño dialect is hard! The only other part of Argentina I really made it to was Ushuaia (which was also incredible, mind).
During the 1970s and 80s, like many other Latin American countries in that era, Argentina suffered under a vicious US-backed right-wing dictatorship which murdered thousands of leftists.
