Apparently, the dominant social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, with their algorithmic “timelines”, are deboosting status updates that include off-site links or non-trending hashtags – meaning that an independent comic artist trying to link followers to new updates will have a rough time trying to get their followers to actually see those updates. Facebook has the particular gall to demand 20€ in exchange for “more of your followers” seeing your update. What a disgusting system.
