Fascinating episode of history, and something I’d never heard of before. The article starts in 1946, when Aboriginal station hands and domestic workers across the Pilbara went on strike. From there their strike organisations evolved into a workers’ cooperative in the mining industry, which continued to help the ultra-exploited Aboriginal workforce in northern WA fight their exploitation. The leading role of women in the cooperative was great to read about, too 🙂
